Build automated systems to power your mission for the next 20 years
For non-profit operations and finance leaders.
Spend less time on manual data entry and admin.
Spend more time on your mission.
If you spend 1 hour a week on manual data entry, that's the same as 1 working week per year.
That's not sustainable for a growing non-profit looking to expand the reach of their programs.
Think of what you could do with one extra week per year. Plus, imagine not having the stress of having to make sure you don't introduce a typo by retyping that data, or of making sure you're copy-pasting into the exact right location (errors in manual data entry are common), or of having to remember exactly what fields need to go where and when and how while you're ALSO trying to make long term plans and improvements for the future of your organization.
You don't want (or need, probably) a new tool or a new piece of software. You already have tools that you love working with, you just wish they all talked to each other better.
Don't change a working process to fit a new tool: automate what's working instead.
Here are examples of work that I've done. See if any of these sound helpful to you:
Payroll and grant reporting for a growing environmental non-profit
- Saved $5,000/year in external contractor expenses.
- Saved 3+ hours/month of the Associate Director's time.
Details coming soon!
Volunteer coordination for an engaged Lutheran church
- Saved 60 hours/year of the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator's time.
- Tailored automated volunteer communication according to each volunteer's preferences (text, email, paper, etc.).

I believe technology should make our lives easier.
I love to make systems that run without you so that you can get back to doing the work you love to do, or take time to rest and recuperate so you can come back more productive.
Technology that requires you to actively use it more.
Technology that replaces work you would have normally been doing by hand is good technology, in my opinion.
Let's create some good technology together. If you want to get to know me better, sign up for my email list below.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
How much do you charge?
Most automation projects cost between $300 and $10,000. Custom software often costs more. Before we start working together, I'll ask detailed questions about your needs until I have enough information; then I'll give you a price that I will commit to, even if things end up being more complicated once we get started. -
Is there a contract to sign?
Yes, a short one. I don't like reading a lot of legalese. Also, every contract comes with 12 months of free/included support, to answer all your questions, fix any issues, and make sure you're satisfied with what I've built for you. -
Are there any ongoing costs?
I don't charge ongoing costs for project maintenance unless there's work to be done. My goal is to hand a system off to you, well-documented, so that you can take it and run with it. That said, some of the automation tools I use have small ongoing costs: usually $60-$130/month with a non-profit discount. -
How soon can you start?
My schedule is always changing. Once I have a clear idea of what I would be building with you, I can tell you my earliest start date. Smaller projects will usually fit in to my schedule more easily than larger projects.

Testimonials
"It was such a pleasure working with Alex on our app! He was patient and took the time to explain things so that we understood them. He even gave us better suggestions than our original plans. He was there every step of the way, making sure that we were pleased with the results, and I couldn’t have been happier. The app launch was without a glitch due to his diligence along the way, and he met all of the timelines originally explained. There were no hidden costs, and he was enjoyable to work with on the project. I would highly recommend him for any future project and would definitely use him in the future again!!"
"We’ve worked with Alex for over 6 years now and some of the most value he brings to our projects is the questions that help us hone in or reshape the scope of our solutions to be actually useful to our end users. His knowledge, consultation, and insight are invaluable to our team."
"Alex has provided significant value over the past 7 years. Alex has a great way of asking good questions and helping focus on projects with high impact, high reward. We continue to rely on his expertise, and I couldn't recommend him more highly."
